However, local and federal investigators are still not close to finding the attacker.

Katherine ‘Katie’ Janness was walking her dog in Piedmont Park on July 28 when she was stabbed over 50 times, with her body mutilated and throat cut.

Surveillance footage captured the woman at a crosswalk with her dog at 10th St. and Piedmont Avenue at 12:09 am. She had visited her lived-in girlfriend Emma Clark at a restaurant she worked at before she took her dog to a nearby park.

Speaking to CBS46, Clark said: “She came by the restaurant, I saw her, she said, ‘Hi, I’m walking the dog then I’m going home.

“I figured she would be home because I saw her at 11:35 (pm); I didn’t have the time because I was working.”

But when Clark came back home, Katherine was not there. She tried to call her many times before she used a tracking app and discovered the 40-year-old’s mutilated body and the dead dog at around 1 am, police report said.

“I could see Bowie (dog); I didn’t see Katie right away, it was pretty dark. I was there, I saw her, I went over to see if she was still alive; I ran,” she expressed.

The Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Katherine’s death a homicide, saying she died from “sharp force injuries of her face, neck, and torso that caused injuries of major blood vessels and internal organs.”

The FBI and the Atlanta Police Department continue to search for clues. A $10,000 reward is also being offered for information on the case.

“The investigation into the murder of Katherine Janness remains open and very active,” the APD said in a statement.

“Our investigators continue working tirelessly to find the person(s) responsible. We understand it is frustrating for there to be so little information released publicly. However, to ensure the investigation isn’t compromised, we simply cannot release much information on our active investigation.
