Baby clothes can make you feel so excited and inspired by all the tiny little things to come, but one woman decided to have a head start before she was even pregnant and collected a wardrobe full of toddler outfits.

A woman has shared the “baby clothes hack” she lives by, which she believes will save people who want to have a family from big problems afterward.

Tanisha Clay, a wedding photographer went viral after posting a TikTok exhibiting her collection of baby clothes despite not having kids around.

“I will not be naming my child braysleighey lynn,” she captioned the video. “Ok hear me out if you’re a girl who wants a baby one day, maybe not today, but one day, just hear me out because I have a tip that is going to bring you joy and a lot less of a headache later.”

“If you’re the kind of girl whose eyes light up when you walk past the baby section let me just tell you why you should stop walking and go in.”

Then Tanisha shows off a wardrobe filled with baby clothes and clarifies that babies are only tiny for so long so they grow out of clothes so quickly.

“Have you ever been to a baby shower and whenever the mom opens the present this is all you see… newborn outfits,” she said. “The reality is that the baby will only be tiny for so long and then after that, what’s the plan?”

Defending her decision to buy baby clothes in preparation for her future family, she’s come up with a plan she calls “the baby closet,” and it comes with the following rules.

Some of the rules are all of the items she buys have to be gender-neutral, but if she finds an item she likes for a boy, she has to be able to pair it with a bow in case she has a girl one day.

Another rule is that anything she is unable to use when she has a baby in the future has to be passed on to someone else in need.

Her final rule is that all the clothes have to be size three to 24 months, no newborn stuff is allowed – though she admits she has broken this rule twice.

“I always shop for items on sale, or if I pass it and it’s too cute to pass up, then I’ll take it with me,” she continued. “I do not purposely go looking for baby clothes, I let the baby clothes find me.”

“It has brought me so much joy and anticipation while me and my husband are waiting for the right time to have our baby,” she said. “We know there’s no right time, you don’t have to tell us.”

“The reality is it makes me so happy and by the time baby Clay gets here we’ll just be fully prepared when it comes to clothes.”

The prepared mom also added that stores such as TK Maxx, Old Navy, and H&M sell good varieties of boys’ clothes that are very gender-neutral as well.

“But honestly, if you love the baby clothes, Sis… just buy them!”

“I love how your justification is “it makes me happy” like ma’am that’s all that matters,” one person commented.

“Now I’m upset that I haven’t purchased some of the cute baby outfits I’ve found,” a second one added.

“Thank you for giving me permission!” the third person said. “I needed it!”

“Oh no, I did not need permission to do this,” a fourth one has added. “I love this idea!”

“This is perfect to be stocked up for baby showers,” a fifth commenter wrote.

“I think this could be a great idea for some but I think it would just make me sad,” another one has said. “We’ve been trying for two years.”

“This made me feel so much better about WANTING to buy them, but knowing it’ll be another few years to use them,” a person commented. “Haha, thank you.”

And one person asked her a question about seasons and sizing saying, “What about the age of baby vs the season? I got loads of cute summer clothes in 3-6 months but by that time it was winter and they were unused!”

Tanisha then clarified in a follow-up clip that any item can be switched into a winter outfit with the addition of tights and cardigans.

She also said that she usually seeks to buy onesies or other items that can be covered as needed to suit the weather.
