A 33-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of killing her husband before she cut off and cooked his private parts.
Dayane Cristina Rodriguez Machado from Brazil was arrested on June 7 after officers found the victim’s naked, lifeless, and mutilated body inside the couple’s home in Santa Catarina.
Police said that the woman had cut off her husband’s penis before cooking it in a frying pan.
According to reports, officers believe the crime occurred at around 4 in the morning after the couple had an argument about splitting up.
Police seized a kitchen knife from the scene, believed to be the weapon Machado used to take the life of her husband before dismembering him.
Machado has been charged with murder and corpse desecration.
The couple were together for a decade and had been separated for around two years. However, they continued to see each other as they have a 5-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son. They also ran a small business together.
It is not clear if the children were inside the house when the crime happened.
According to UOL, the couple went to a snack bar before their argument started.
Machado’s attorney, Carla Policarpo, has said that the husband threatened her and she only killed him in self-defense.
The victim’s sister, Adriana Santos, says Machado killed her brother in revenge after he cheated on her.
Family members revealed how the couple always fought.
Machado’s lawyer, Policarpo, said: “He did not accept the end of the relationship and said that if she could not be with him, she could not be with anyone.”
The lawyer also said that her client is remorseful, with reports saying she already turned herself in to the police.
The investigation continues.
