42-year-old Mary MacCarthy was stopped at a Denver airport and was accused of trafficking her child.
A woman shared a video after a Southwest Airlines staffer reported her to his superiors just because of a false accusation.
She had been traveling with her 10-year-old black daughter in Southwest Airlines when this incident happened. Her little daughter started sobbing after she and her white mother were pulled aside when they reached the airport after being flagged up for human trafficking.
Mary MacCarthy is a single mother and lives in Los Angeles. She works in a tech company and has a black biological daughter who has been traumatized by the police at the airport.
Elaborating about the incident, the white mother said that some police officers informed her that an employee had reported her suspicious behavior with her daughter during the flight.
Furious at the accusation, the 42-year-old woman slammed both the Denver Police Department and the airline, proclaiming that the anonymous staffer’s suspicion was nothing but a racist assumption about a mixed-race family.
She wants the police department and the airline staff to be held accountable for this mistreatment. This incident happened when she and her daughter were about to make their way through the jet bridge after landing at the Denver International.
She was suspected as a potential human trafficker just because she and her daughter didn’t talk much during the flight. Mary later cleared that as she was sleeping most of the time and her daughter was listening to an audiobook, so it is pretty obvious why they didn’t talk much.
