When the young men present at the celebration refused, the soldiers allegedly opened fire and shot dead three guests while injuring at least ten more.

Following the gruesome attack on innocent civilians, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid insisted that the fighters responsible for the massacre will be punished in accordance with Sharia law.

“At the wedding of Haji Malang Jan in Shamspur Mar Ghundi village of Nangarhar, three people who introduced themselves as Taliban, entered the proceedings and [demanded] that the music stop playing,” the representative of the regime said.

“The perpetrators of the incident caught, who have used the name of the Islamic Emirate to carry out their personal feud, have been handed over to face Sharia law.”

While music was previously banned by the Taliban, the new government, which has taken over Afghanistan by storm after the withdrawal of US troops from the country, hasn’t yet prohibited people from listening to music even though they consider it an enemy of the Islamic law.

“In the ranks of the Islamic Emirate no one has the right to turn anyone away from music or anything, only to try to persuade them. That is the main way,” Zabihullah Mujahid added.

“If anyone kills someone by himself, even if they are our personnel, that is a crime and we will introduce them to the courts and they will face the law.”
