“It made me come to the conclusion that this man wasn’t family or kin to me. Family shouldn’t hurt family the way he did.”

Anaji added: “It has brought my trust in people to become very low then it already has [sic].”

After asking for a no-contact order, Anaji’s request was granted and Brooks was told to stay away from his nephew.

As it happens, Anaji isn’t the only person who wanted to keep the alleged killer as far from their family as possible.

According to Marsha Winters, who previously hooked up with Brooks, both her mother and her sister warned her not to mingle with the man after seeing him for the first time.

“I used to blame him on my friend. But when my mother first met him she was like ‘I don’t like him,’ and my younger sister said there’s something about him she didn’t like as well. But they never told me what it was they didn’t like,” Marsha said.

Though the 29-year-old insists Brooks always encouraged her to finish her studies and told her how proud he was of her, she confirmed she would not visit her ex-boyfriend in prison should he get convicted.

“I can’t have that in my life,” she concluded.
