A user named molesterstall0ne is a 20-year-old college student, a sophomore at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. She shared her traumatic ride to Reddit saying she was left scared for her safety, praying that the driver wouldn’t harm her.

In March of 2019, she found out that she was pregnant but was not in a position to be a mom. It was really a distressing situation for her. She stayed in bed for a few days and didn’t go outside unless she “absolutely had to.”

“The minute I saw that the test was positive I called my boyfriend, hysterical, and told him the news,” she wrote on Reddit. “I cried for the rest of the weekend and stayed in bed. I didn’t go outside unless I absolutely had to. I shut down.”

After a few more days, she decided to have an abortion, the unnamed woman found a clinic an hour away from her university in upstate New York which had appointment availability in three days.

Not having her own car, she booked an Uber for a ride to a doctor’s appointment on March 21, where she was going for a non-surgical medical abortion by herself.

The uber arrived and she says it was awkward from the moment she got in the car. She had written the doctor’s name and his clinic for the destination, but for some reason the driver had suspicions.

“So at 9:58 am my Uber arrived and he immediately seemed uncomfortable,” she recalled. “After about five minutes in the car, he asked, “are we going to a planned parenthood?” I said no (because we weren’t), but it set off alarm bells that he would even ask that.”

She says a few more minutes of uncomfortable silence passed, then the driver asked: “are… are we going to an abortion clinic?”

The young girl was shocked by his question adding that she felt uncomfortable and trying not to cry.

The driver, identified only by the pregnant woman as Scott, continued to press her for information before describing the procedure to her in detail.

“I know it’s none of my business, but you’re going to regret this for the rest of your life,” Scott told the 20-year-old. “There’s so much they don’t tell you. You’re making a mistake.”

The driver proceeded to mention something about his wife being pregnant and how awful the procedure was explaining it in graphic detail.

She then kept quiet all through it and the ride would still be another 35 minutes but the driver suddenly pulled over near a small gas station and a closed antique shop on Route 38.

Then the driver said: “I’m sorry, but I can’t take you the rest of the way. I can take you back to (my city), but you won’t be able to find another Uber out here.”

The student panicked as they were in the middle of nowhere farmland and forest with no other Ubers for miles. She says that despite the unexpected end to her ride, she thanked him as she got out of the car on the side of a road in Upstate New York.

“I was scared and I felt more alone than I had ever felt,” she says.

She tried calling her parents, but they didn’t respond. Eventually, she got ahold of her boyfriend who contacted the clinic to explain and picked her up.

“As I called the three cab companies closest to me, my Uber driver waited 10 feet away, probably expecting me to go back to Ithaca with him,” she wrote. “After about 15 minutes, he asked me once more if I wanted him to drive me back.”

“Firmly, I said no thank you,” she explained. “He drove away and about 15 minutes later, the cab showed up and I got to my appointment (an hour late).”

The next day, the student reported her driver to Uber and filed a police report the following day.

She said that the company apologized for the driver’s behavior.

“Uber comped my ride, and after telling them I filed a police report against the driver, a representative immediately got in touch with me and apologized for my experience on Uber’s behalf,” she added. “He said they would launch an investigation.”

A few days later she was told the driver had been banned, but she wishes to press charges against the driver personally. The experience left her traumatized, as she says even thinking about it brings tears to her eyes.

“I can’t believe someone would be this cruel,” she wrote. “An abortion is already traumatic enough, and not at all a decision, I take lightly.”

“That an older man would corner me and confront me about decisions that are none of his business are astounding,” she continued.

The story she shared received more than 3,500 responses and several Reddit users were outraged by the driver’s inhumane act and criticized him for his selfish deed.

However, Pro-lifers are rallying around a “hero” Uber driver who was fired for not taking a passenger to an abortion clinic and instead dropped her off at a gas station.
