A two-year-old boy has passed away only nine days after his dad was killed in a four-vehicle collision.
Joshua Hoyle, who was described as ‘loving and energetic,’ suffered severe head injuries in the car crash on August 18.
The toddler was airlifted to King’s College Hospital but his dad, 36-year-old Any Hoyle, tragically died at the scene.
Sussex Police said that Joshua passed away from his injuries.
In a heartbreaking statement, mom Trudie Hoyle said: “Joshua was our loving and energetic boy and the centre of both mine and Andy’s world.
“To have lost both of them in this way is absolutely devastating.
“As a family we will never stop loving and missing them, and would ask to be allowed to grieve privately while we come to terms with this tragedy.”
The grieving family said in a previous statement after Mr. Hoyle died: “Andy was a beloved son, husband, father and brother who will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
“We ask that we are allowed time to grieve privately, as we continue to focus on supporting and caring for Andy’s son.”
Andy was driving a blue Ford Fiesta. The crash also involved a silver Toyota Estima, a white Renault Master, and a grey or silver Honda car which didn’t stop at the scene.
Officers arrested a 76-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The pensioner has been released under investigation while the investigation continues.
