Tourists visiting the Big Apple could now face up to a year-long jail sentence for violently attacking a hostess from one of Manhattan’s famous eateries.
Local media reports claim that a total of three women, who hail from Texas and were reportedly visiting New York on the weekend, decided to pay a visit t Carmines for a meal. However, things quickly got out of hand in an instant, leading to a violent brawl.
Both sides became engaged in a brawl when the hostess requested the customers to display proof of their vaccination status, as per restaurant guidelines. But that news didn’t go down too well with many of the women who began arguing and bickering, right before getting violent.
The women were charged by the Manhattan Criminal Court for carrying out the attack, each receiving up to two counts relating to third-degree criminal assault, along with harassment and attempted assault.
The reported beatdown really went viral after the startling footage of the incident was displayed online with many criticizing the tourists for behaving so aggressively with restaurant staff that was just trying to do her job.
After hearing about the charges being assigned to the three women from Humble, Texas, many people were relieved and delighted to know that justice had prevailed at a time where it was mostly due.
One spokesperson from Carmine’s restaurant applauded the authorities’ decision, admiring their relentless efforts in terms of protecting the rights of restaurant workers around the state.
The public statement comprised of how grateful the restaurant was to the district attorney’s office for taking this matter up and investigating the event. He also spoke about how all restaurant workers demand respect as they are a part of the city’s lifeblood.
One of the attacker’s lawyers stated that the women acted in that manner because the hostess was aggressive, and even referred to them with a racial slur. But many argued that the way two men behaved, who accompanied the Texan women, was beyond acceptable, striking her aggressively on the neck and
shoulder region.
