A 19-year-old teen has been sentenced to 150 years in prison after he murdered his 16-year-old girlfriend and her parents.
Reports reveal that Mauricio Johnson from California was caught by the girl’s parents in her bed. He told the court that he killed Margarett Moon and Nikki Metcalf, both 40, after Metcalf caught him in bed with their daughter Shelly Autumn May Moon.
Johnson pleaded guilty to three murders in Humboldt County Superior Court.
The attack happened at the couple’s Northern California home in the Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria.
Prosecutors recounted how the 19-year-old was invited into the family’s home ‘with the permission of several minors’ who also lived in the property.
But later that night, Metcalf, the 16-year-old girl’s stepfather, checked on his daughter and found Johnson on top of her.
Metcalf then attacked Johnson and punched him once.
“The male subject (Johnson) was on top of (Shelly). Nikki Metcalf hit the male,” the search warrant stated.
When Johnson walked out of the room, Metcalf followed him where the teen pulled a handgun from his bag and shot the stepfather in the head.
The girl’s biological mother, Moon, was woken by the noise and stepped into the living area to check what had happened.
Moon was also shot by Johnson. She was rushed to a hospital where she passed away.
The warrant revealed that Johnson also shot the girl “because he did not want to have any witnesses.”
It is not clear if Autumn May Moon was the one who invited Johnson into the house. But reports said that the teen was a ‘friend’ of the family and was a welcomed ‘guest.’
Johnson is scheduled to receive sentencing on January 21.
