A taxi driver has been dubbed a hero after locking a possible terrorist armed with explosives inside his vehicle.
David Perry is a British taxi driver who did his country a great service when he risked his life to stop a bomber armed with explosives from reaching his destination – the Remembrance Day Parade in Liverpool.
According to the reports, Perry’s passenger initially wanted to go to the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool. After being challenged by road closures, however, he told his driver to drop him off at Liverpool Women’s Hospital instead.
When Perry and his passenger got close to the hospital, the driver noticed that the man had “some kind of light attached to his clothing and was messing around with it.”
Immediately, the brave driver jumped out of his car and locked the vehicle after realizing that he was unknowingly transporting a bomber and that the man could end dozens of lives should he get inside the hospital.
Just moments after the car was locked, the vehicle exploded in a powerful blast and the first responders surrounded the place. Since then, a terror probe has been launched, whereas the police have evacuated several homes and arrested three suspects.
“David noticed the man had some kind of light attached to his clothing and was messing around with it. He jumped out and locked the car,” Perry’s friend revealed in an interview with MailOnline.
Dubbing the taxi driver a hero, people went on to applaud the young man for risking his life to protect the community after the incident.
“He put his life on the line and nearly paid the ultimate price to save others – apparently not giving anything a second thought besides making sure he went above and beyond to keep the people of our city safe,” Billy Darwin wrote.
Fortunately, Perry got away with a few stitches and has since already been reunited with his family.
The investigation remains ongoing.
