The mother, who is referred to as Sandra, even though that isn’t her real name, starts off by making a horrifying confession. “I knew that this wasn’t my child,” says Sandra. However, this was the point in time where the hospital’s staff dismissed all her claims.
It was around 3 years after their birth when the hospital confirmed their botch up. And that meant that they admitted to the shocking switched at birth incident. After finding out the scary truth, both families started to trace one another. Luckily, they found each other’s whereabouts. On that note, they thought it would be a good idea to become a part of the girls’ lives.
However, by the age of 10, the other couple filed for custody. And they took both the girls under their wings. Therefore, it left poor Sandra with absolutely nothing.
The heartbreaking truth
Sandra goes on to admit how she doesn’t feel like she was robbed.
In fact, she admits that she ‘was’ robbed and there is no other way to go about the situation. The devasted mother explains, “I went to a hospital to have a baby and I had a baby. And then, they took my baby away from me forever”
When her daughter arrived, Sandra was the happiest mother in the world. She fed her child well and remained calm at all times. However, when both moms went in for a shower and came back, the nurses handed them their infants. That was the exact point in time where Sandra knew something was wrong.
Her new daughter had a birthmark and she didn’t feed well too. But the fact that she held, a while back, looked and behaved in the opposite manner.
A mother with never-ending woes
To add to her misery, Sandra explains how difficult her life was as a whole.
She had two sons and lived through numerous abusive relationships too. At the same time, she lost a daughter, before the switched at birth incident, and then this happened. It was like a series of roller-coaster emotions that struck her.
The other couple were well off financially and had one son. News agencies explained how the mix-up took place as the maternity ward was too full. For this reason, the other moms waited for their turn, so they could get shifted upstairs. And that’s when sources believe the mix-up incident took place.
“I mentioned to the nurses how this bab wasn’t mine,” claimed Sandra. But no one listened to her, dismissing her claims immediately. Above all, the most heartwrenching detail was how Sandra’s partner left her when the baby was turned two. He accused her of cheating on him because the baby didn’t look like him. And that’s when she had a paternity test. The results revealed how the baby simply wasn’t hers.
