Each year, thousands of people visit the glorious 7 wonders of the world and this one is no exception. It’s powerfully attractive while serving as a privileged platform for those who enjoy something a little extra.
While the number of people who managed to go over the falls yet survive is plenty, Robert hoped he would join the club one day. Hence, he did arrive with a bang but one unfortunate tragedy met his way down.
Here are the inside details on his journey and why things didn’t quite go as he planned.
It all began back in 1995
Back in the year 1995, a 39-year-old stunt man from California hoped to add another milestone to his ever-expanding record.
On the second of October, 1995, the person who many called the ‘stuntman’ arrived for a journey like no other. Here, he planned on executing a wonderful stunt to help raise awareness for those that are homeless.
To start with, he wanted to jet ski over the mega falls, situated on the Canadian side. In the same way, he hoped to deploy his parachute and then land safely towards the ground. And while the plan appeared super thought out and error-free, destiny had other intentions.

When you’re a huge stuntman, it’s all about capturing the right footage and then going on from there. Therefore, Robert Overacker made sure he had the right equipment in place. Everything was going according to plan and things looked like they were doing well from the start.
When trouble strikes
After a few minutes into the daredevil stunt, things started going in the wrong direction.
You could clearly see the stuntman struggling with his poise and grip. And the camera managed to capture it all. Soon, however, no one had any idea that Robert Overacker was in for a rude awakening. Trouble had struck and the footage revealed it all.

Righter after covering the edge of the falls, Overacker appears to let go of the jet ski that he was on.
Soon, strapped to his back, there was a specially designed parachute. It came accompanied by thrusters as well. If things went according to plan and sequence, the thrusters take a position before the chute. This way, we would ensure that Overacker was far away from his falling jet ski.
Unfortunately, he met with a malfunction, somewhere along the line. Clearly, things didn’t work out in his favor and the parachute didn’t open too. In the end, Robert Overacker fell to his death. And it was the most tragic episode one can possibly imagine.
Rescue services rush to the scene- a tragic end
Right after the jump, rescue services immediately rushed to the scene as they were on standby.
And that’s when a famous tour boat called the Maid of the Mist recovered Robert’s body. Medical experts tried their best to resuscitate him but it was clearly too late. Hence, that was the end of a legend and a story that many tragically recall, till today.
