School suspends 9-year-old
A Louisiana school suspends a 4th grader after making a unique discovery during an online class. According to reports, the teacher saw a gun, sitting in his bedroom. And that’s when she decided to inform the school’s administration immediately.
Furthermore, the incident reportedly took place during an online class. And it literally scared the living daylights out of the teacher. Thankfully, she didn’t lose her focus and stayed calm. At the same time, it’s fantastic how vigilant she was during the whole episode.
But what was the weapon doing in a young child’s bedroom in the first place? And were the parents informed about the situation or not?
Family attorney steps in to defend the matter
According to reports, the family attorney stepped in to settle the matter. As a representative of the young child’s family, he claims that the teacher saw a BB gun. At the same time, he also concluded how the school overstepping some boundary lines.
He believes that the school can’t apply on-campus policies towards the incident. And that’s because the student was at home, and not on campus. Therefore, he concludes that it’s a total violation of privacy.
On the other hand, Louisiana’s attorney general says he’s investigating the entire incident. He also released a statement that says:
‘I am alarmed by what is going on. But I do believe it appears to be a matter of multiple violations from the state as well as the Federal Constitution.’ Similarly, he says that the school may have overstepped some boundaries.
‘Students homes aren’t school property’, claims state attorney
Louisiana’s state attorney further went on claiming how it’s incorrect to term a student’s home as school property.
And the fact that the decision is based on an online class is absurd.
Meanwhile, he found it ridiculous how a young child received punishment for something that’s unbelievable.But how exactly did the events of the incident play out? There must be some array of events that led to the school suspends the 4th grader mishap.
Well, young Ka’Mauri Harrison was busy taking his online English test. He is a fourth-grader at Harvey’s Woodmere Elementary School. Suddenly, on September 11, his siblings barged into his room. The 9-year-old shares his room with his sibling.
Soon, the sibling trips over something. And that was a BB gun. Moreover, the 4th grader had his computer’s volume muted so he could concentrate on the test. And that was in line with the school’s policy. But as his younger sibling tripped over the toy weapon, Ka’Mauri leaned over and grabbed the unloaded gun.
School accuses the 9-year-old of having a full-sized rifle
He was out of sight for a short while, and then soon got back, holding the BB gun.
Next, he placed it next to him, on his chair.
He wanted to keep it away from his brother but little did he know what would happen next. His teacher and classmates viewed it all. And in the end, his parents soon received a behavior report.It explained how the child went out of sight for a short while and returned with a ‘full-sized rifle.’ Moreover, it explains how the student is currently under suspension. However, he could face expulsion too.
