A young preacher passed away after getting himself buried for three days in a failed attempt at resurrection.

22-year-old James Sakara was a pastor from Zambia who attempted to recreate the resurrection of Jesus Christ with the help of his most loyal followers.

According to the reports, the Zion church preacher managed to convince three worshippers to tie his hands, help him dig a deep hole, and bury him in the town of Chadiza.

Convinced that he would be resurrected like Jesus Christ, Sakara told his followers to leave him inside the hole for three days before checking on him.

Three days later, however, there was still no sign of resurrection, prompting the locals to check on the pastor only to discover that he had died while he was buried several feet underground.

Though the preacher’s congregation performed spiritual rituals in an attempt to bring Sakara back to life, nothing could be done to save his life and the man was declared dead.

After realizing what they had done, two followers who helped bury the pastor ran away in fear that they will be charged with his murder. The third one has reportedly turned himself over to the police since the discovery.

According to recent reports, the two runaway followers have yet to be found by the authorities. It is not clear what charges, if any, the trio will face.

As a result of his attempt to recreate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Sakara has left behind a wife who is reportedly pregnant with their child.
