Gabby Petito’s grieving parents were seen collecting their precious daughter’s remains six weeks after Brian Laundrie dumped her body in Wyoming.
The brokenhearted family left the Valley Mortuary in Jackson, Wyoming, holding an urn containing the ashes of their 22-year-old daughter. The remains will now be taken to Long Island, New York, for burial.
Father Joe held the white box to his chest while mother Nichole appeared visibly upset as they made their way out of the funeral home.
Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue recently announced the results of Gabby’s autopsy and said that she had been manually strangled before her body was dumped at a remote campsite in Wyoming.
The area where Gabby’s remains were found on September 19 has become a shrine for her, with a stone cross and flowers left on the site.
The family met with rescuers from the Teton County Search and Rescue Team which took part in the search for the 22-year-old and searched around Jenny Lake where her white van was spotted before she was reported missing.
Father Joe shared a photo of the take on his social media account and wrote: “I now know why you came here. #GabbyPetito has a beautiful view from now on. Love you and miss you.”
Stepmother Tara also took to Twitter and posted a photo of herself with Nichole at the lake, writing: “Two moms out at Jenny Lake, taking in the beauty of it all.”
Gabby’s fiancé Brian Laundrie has been named the person of interest in her death. He currently has a warrant out for his arrest on bank fraud charges after he used her debit card to withdraw $1,000 after she died.
