A devastated mom has broken her silence as she complained about the rising cost of living and her struggles to get by every month.
Abbie Palmer, 30, is a British mom-of-two who criticized the government and the politicians for “living a life of luxury” while many working people like her are struggling to make ends meet.
As the young mom admitted, she sometimes struggles to feed her two young children, aged 6 and 12, despite earning nearly $30,000 a year working as a customer services manager.
She also said she could no longer give her kids the Christmas presents they deserve because she was only left with some pocket money after paying the bills last month.
“I was in Aldi [supermarket] thinking how normally this time of year my mum would fill the cupboards with Christmas treats. Then I suddenly realized I wouldn’t be able to do that this year,” Abbie said in her viral TikTok video.
“I don’t have Sky [subscription] or anything like that. Unless I can pay I don’t have it. I live completely within my means – but it’s still not enough.”
Breaking into tears, the mother went on to share her message for the government saying:
“My message to the government is to let go of these expenses that the British public are paying for. I’m not seeing doctors having expenses paid for, lunches paid for, having second homes.
“[MPs] don’t need $40-a-day for lunch, they should get a sandwich and bag of crisps like rest of us.”
Abbie also revealed she was recently forced to take sick leave because of her anemia. Still, she is afraid to go to the doctor because she can’t afford prescription medicine.
“I can’t even afford to keep myself healthy. I could end up with antibiotics and vitamin tablets that could cost £30. I simply can’t afford that at the moment,” she cried out.
“I’m not even on minimum wage, but once I’ve done my food shop and put fuel in my car that’s basically it. I can literally only go to the pub I used to work at on the off chance I can get a free drink or someone buys one for me.”
