A woman who spotted her husband eating in an Indian restaurant after he died nine years ago has spoken out.
59-year-old Lucy Watson said she has ‘no doubt’ that it was her husband, Harry Doherty, who was dining in Spice Cottage restaurant in West Sussex.
But the restaurant replied to her comment and insisted that the video was taken only a week before it was shared on Facebook.
The restaurant took to Facebook and shared a video of diners alongside the caption: “New year, new mood! For the last few weeks, we’ve been working hard to make our dining experience even more memorable.
“Join us for a perfect blend of exquisite flavors, with classical and unique dishes inspired by ancient family recipes.”
In the comments, Watson asked: “How old is the footage? My late husband and his son are on the first shot and he died in 2014??”
The restaurant owners explained that the video had been filmed earlier in the month and was not nine years old.
Hundreds of social media users commented on possible explanations, with many thinking it was a fake story to promote the restaurant.
Speaking to Mail Online, Ms. Watson said: “I don’t really use Facebook apart from snooping on friends or catching up with people. I was scrolling through and the video popped up.
“The moment I saw the thing I thought “Oh my God – that’s Harry”. It was so instant. I didn’t even have to think. He’d be eating a chicken korma because that’s all he ever ate.”
She continued: “There was no doubt in my mind it was my husband. I couldn’t pause the thing so I had to replay it about 30 times and each time I was surer and surer.”
Ms. Watson also said that she was shocked by the theories shared on social media.
She said her husband passed away in 2014 and she recalled him being severely ill in the hospital while waiting for a liver transplant but he didn’t make it.
