A woman revealed how she sabotaged her best friend’s wedding after the latter betrayed her by having an affair with her boyfriend.
The young lady in question, Monica, took to Reddit to explain that her best friend, Stacy, asked her to be her maid of honor only for her to bail on the ceremony just hours before the wedding.
The drama allegedly began when Stacy’s partner, Tom, spoke to Monica and told the bridesmaid that his wife-to-be entrusted him with a big secret and that he wanted to get it off his chest before kicking off his marital life.
Tom then explained how Stacy admitted to having an affair with Monica’s ex, John, back when the pair were still dating. He also said his bride came forth with the truth because she wanted to start her marriage on a clean slate.
While Tom was able to forgive his wife-to-be’s past indiscretion, Monica was left shattered by the news of betrayal.
“He had gone back and forth between telling me, and finally decided to spill the beans. I guess he had expected me to forgive Stacy too because the affair was ‘so long ago.’ The opposite pretty much happened, and I just walked out on the wedding,” Monica explained in her viral post.
“It caused a big mess. Stacy made me do everything, so she didn’t even know what was happening at certain times or who to call.”
While Stacy and Tom’s big day somehow pulled through, the pair have since “united in hate” against Monica for sabotaging their wedding.
“Stacy and Tom have both been slandering me online now, saying that I ruined their once in a lifetime moment. Some of their friends are on their side, saying that I should have handled the situation more privately, and at least stuck out the wedding since it was so last minute,” the young woman added.
“I personally don’t know what Tom expected, but either way I’ve been getting bombarded with texts and I heard that Stacy has been so upset she’s had to take time off work, which does make me feel bad. Especially since I’ve just been ignoring her calls.”
After asking Reddit if she was in the wrong for ruining her best friend’s wedding, Monica received mixed responses from the community.
“Was walking out of the wedding the day of a nice thing to do? Not particularly. But what on Earth did they expect would happen by telling you? And on the wedding day. They knew they were playing with fire,” someone wrote.
“I would have pretended to forgive her and then given hell of a MOH speech, but I’m petty like that,” another said.
A third suggested: “Right as she’s about to walk down the aisle: ‘And here is the woman that ruined my previous relationship by cheating on her soon to be husband…’ mic drop, grab bottle of bubbles and walk out.”
