A single mom in her late 50s has opened up about her romantic life as she revealed that she’s at a point in life where she no longer craves physical intimacy in the form of lovemaking.
59-year-old Monica Zwolsman sparked an interesting debate after penning a brutally honest essay for Mamma Mia in which she revealed she has a different view on romantic relationships now that she’s older and after she’s been widowed twice.
As the single mom explained, her s*x drive encountered a massive drop in recent years which is why she no longer wants to get physical or be with a partner who wants to have s*x.
While she claims she “doesn’t care about being unf***able,” she admitted she would prefer to be with a partner who simply wants to hold hands.
“The intimation is that all natural, healthy women want sex, no matter what their age, so I am in some way lacking – either mentally, physically or hormonally,” Monica said in her defense after reading on the internet that she could try to increase her libido by taking hormones or undergoing therapy.
“I am not stressed. I am happy. I have lots of time. I am in perfect health. But I just don’t want to be that damn intimate with anyone.”
Zwolsman lost her first husband in South Africa shooting back in the 1990s. Later, in 2003, she lost her second husband to a heart attack.
While the woman married again, she has since gotten divorced and is now a single mother of two.
Explaining her reasoning for speaking out, the 59-year-old suggested there’s nothing wrong with not wanting to be physically intimate at her age.
She also insisted there’s nothing wrong with wanting to watch TV or read books with your partner instead.
“I miss hugging someone and burrowing into their armpit, skin-to-skin contact and spooning in bed. Most of all, I would like to have someone of my very own who is always there as an anchor,” she added.
“But if it means I have to trade the privacy of my genitals to get this, then I am out, because I don’t want the rest that badly. I have a dog for companionship and unconditional love. I have sons, sisters and brothers for family.”
