A young woman suffered a double heartbreak after her new boyfriend and her newborn baby both died just months apart.
Abigail Young ‘Abby’, 24, is a paramedic from Tennessee who fell in love with Chad, 23, ten months ago after the pair first met on Tinder.
“I was so nervous the whole way because I hadn’t met him in person before, but I was really excited because of our conversations leading up until then. I knew he was going to be an amazing person,” Abby said as he recalled her first meeting with Chad.
Before they knew it, the couple hit it off and exchanged their first ‘I love yous’. They also started trying for a baby since Chad longed to become a father due to his complex past.
“He said, ‘I spent the last 20-few years of my life alone. I’ve done nothing but work and I think that it’s time for me to get my life started and I want to share that with you,’” the paramedic recalled.
Unfortunately, the young man suffered unexpected problems on July 27 when he suddenly stopped breathing.
“I got a message from Chad’s mom that said, ‘Please call me.’ At first, Chad’s father said he was having trouble breathing, so I thought they were calling me for medical advice, which family members sometimes do since I’m an EMT. And before I can say anything, he tells me, ‘Chad is dead,’” Abby added.
Just days after Chad’s funeral, Abby took a pregnancy test only to find out she was expecting her first baby.
“I just fell to the floor crying because that was all he talked about, was how excited he was to be a dad. And all I could think about was how I was about to have his child that he wanted so bad, and he wasn’t going to be here to see it,” the young lady said.
“I was also happy to have a piece of him to carry with me forever, but devastated he wasn’t there to share it with me.”
Several weeks later, another tragedy struck as Abigail suddenly fell ill only for doctors to diagnose her with tachycardia upon her arrival at the hospital.
“I had tachycardia. My heart was beating 174 beats per minute, which is really dangerous. And so my lieutenant calls my shift commander and he says that I don’t have a choice, I need to go to the hospital immediately,” she shared.
During the examination at the hospital, Abby’s ultrasound revealed that she had lost her baby during the ordeal. She then went into induced labor so that she could hold her stillborn baby for the first and last time before burying the child together with her boyfriend.
“I held him as long as I could and I looked over him and could see so much of Chad in this beautiful baby boy that we wanted so bad,” Abby says.
A GoFundMe page to aid Abby in paying for medical bills has since been launched.
“She is going to need help with medical bills and living expenses while she is out of work recovering from this devastating series of events!” the page reads.
