23-year-old Brendan Estorffe and Police Sgt. Steven Robin, 34, were both killed after approaching Dr. Amy Anderson in her car in the parking lot of Motel 6 at around 4:30 am.

The cops saw the mother-of-three was with her young daughter and after speaking with her, they called child protection services.

Anderson worked at MedVet Mobile and Lakeview Animal Hospital. Her co-worker told Daily Mail that she had only been employed by the hospital for about 33 days before the shooting even though she has already worked as a local vet for many years.

The mother-of-three was described was a “very, very compassionate person” who “cried over a bearded lizard” that was getting treatment.

The community gathered to support the local police force.

Donna Brignac, the manager of PJ’s coffee were cops are known to gather, said: “We’re a strong community and I believe we have a lot of support and love from other communities as well…the whole Gulf Coast is one.”

Gov. Tate Reeves also took to Twitter and wrote: “I am heartbroken by this terrible loss of two brave law enforcement officers. I am praying for their family, friends, their fellow officers, and the entire Bay St. Louis community.”
