A young woman has opened up about dating her biological father for two years after being separated for 12 years.
The unnamed woman from the Great Lakes region shared details of their relationship with an interview with Science of Us and revealed that they were planning to have children.
She explained that her father reached out to her on Facebook when she was 16. When they decided to meet, she stayed with him for a week.
Speaking about the moment she saw her father after being estranged for 12 years, she said: “It was so weird and confusing. I was seeing my dad for the first time in forever but it was also like, He’s so good-looking!
“And then I was like, What the hell are you thinking? What is wrong with you? I saw him as my dad but then also part of me was like, I’m meeting this guy who I have been talking to over the internet and really connecting with and I find him attractive.
During the interview, the woman said that they were planning to move to New Jersey, where such relationship is not a criminal offense.
The couple were not trying to hide their relationship as people around them were aware of what’s going on between them.
“Everyone on my mom’s side of the family sees us as father and daughter,” she said. “Those who know that he’s my dad, and that we are engaged, include my father’s parents (they can see we are happy together and they can’t wait for us to have babies they treat us just like any other couple), the woman we live with, and my best friend.”
The woman said her children will never learn how their mom and dad first met. “I don’t want to give them any problems,” she said.
