A 53-year-old woman has tragically died after being ‘torn apart’ and fatally mauled by her brother’s dog.

Patrizia La Marca was reportedly bringing food to the Rottweiler when it suddenly pounced on her. Emergency services rushed to the scene and said they had ‘never seen anything like it’ after she had ‘pieces of her body torn away.’

According to reports, Marca was found with severe bites to her head, chest, shoulders and arms in Ventimiglia, Italy.

Marca’s brother is a popular trade unionist in the area and she was at home to feed his dog while he and his wife went on a holiday.

Neighbors who heard the woman’s cries for help found the 53-year-old in a pool of blood after the Rottweiler attacked her.

The national military force were called in in an attempt to save Marca’s life. As soon as the police arrived, they shot and injured the dog, which is now under judicial control.

Marca was airlifted to a hospital where she sadly died from her injuries.

A member of the emergency team said to local media: “The body was torn apart in several places, a very serious clinical situation, I have never seen anything like it.”

It is still not clear if the dog will be euthanized. Police are still investigating the horrific incident.

Mayir Isio Cassini said: “A similar case has never occurred in the town as far as I can remember. I am very sorry for (Marca) and her family.”

One person commented: “What a terrible death!!! This breed and other “”bully” type dogs should be banned and not bread….R.I.P. and prayers being said..”

Another wrote: “My Rottie doesn’t like the hoover either and is the soppiest dog I’ve owned, now my little Jack Russell I had was really feisty and was rehomed the moment he nipped my young son as I couldn’t trust his behavior.”
