A furious wife who ran over her husband and his lover after tracking them down using an app has avoided jail time.
38-year-old Christie Lee Kennedy reportedly pleaded guilty to hitting her husband and his mistress with her vehicle in Brisbane District Court.
The court heard that she had been married to David Larkin for almost ten years when she found out that he had been cheating on her with Zowie Noring.
Using a tracking app, Kennedy searched for her husband and saw him with Noring standing on the roadside in the suburb of Wavell Heights.
The incident occurred after Larkin told her that he was going to pick up their two children from daycare. Instead, she saw him and his mistress ‘kissing and cuddling.’
The angry wife drove 45 meters on the wrong side of the street and ran over the two.
Kennedy then jumped out of her BMW SUV and grabbed the mistress by the hair before punching her multiple times in the face.
The Crown prosecutor reportedly said that after driving on the wrong side of the road, Kennedy’s car “struck both of them with the front side of the car. Mr. Larkin was thrown into the air and onto the road.
“Ms Noring was also thrown onto the road. After hitting Ms Noring, (Kennedy) immediately attacked her which shows a lack of remorse for her actions at the time by punching a person who was laying on the ground after being hit.”
Kennedy’s defense barrister Penny White argued that she had not intended to hit her husband and his lover but had accelerated toward them to ‘get their quickly’ and ‘confront them about what was going on.’
“The only reason this happened was because her husband was kissing someone else and she wasn’t aware of it,” White said.
According to the Daily Mail, a jury had found Kennedy not guilty on two counts of a malicious act with intent to disable.
Two assault occasioning bodily harm charges against Kennedy were also dropped.
