The wife of a 30-year-old man accused of assaulting a bridesmaid two days before they tied the knot has defended him.
Nicole Norris testified in a Pennsylvania court that one of her bridesmaids was ‘conscious and aware’ of her actions with Daniel Carney when she caught them in the shower, WNEP reported.
However, the prosecutors said that Norris did not see everything as she was not there the entire time the two were in the shower of a men’s locker room.
The 29-year-old bridesmaid claimed she had ‘woken up’ twice during the incident and she did not remember exactly what happened.
She also claims that she only remembers Carney biting and grabbing her, then later her bikini bottoms were gone and that the groom was already on top of her.
But Carney claims that the encounter was ‘consensual’ and that it was the bridesmaid who initiated it.
The groom was arrested for assault and involuntary assault.
According to reports, the incident unraveled in August 2019 when Nicole and Daniel had a pre-wedding party.
They had spent days before the ceremony drinking and rafting on the Delaware River in Pocono Mountains, where the Maid of Honor alleged Carney and his friends asked the bridesmaid to flash other boaters for free alcohol.
When they returned to the shore on August 30, Nicole noticed that the bridesmaid was intoxicated and had asked Carney to help her get out of the raft and into the parking lot.
Everyone else returned to their hotel but Daniel and the bridesmaid were still not back. When Nicole searched for them, she found the two in the shower of the men’s locker room.
Two days later, the wedding happened as planned even though the Maid of Honor told Nicole to call it off.
