A high school senior from Las Vegas tragically died after suffering cardiac arrest at school.
18-year-old Jordan Brister reportedly ‘experienced cardiac arrest’ after attending physical education class at Amplus Academy on January 3.
His grieving family said that he was found inside a bathroom about 25 minutes after he collapsed.
Brister was taken to a hospital but he passed away only five days later.
According to NBC, school staff members did their best to provide the student with ‘emergency medical attention’ until paramedics arrived.
In a GoFundMe page set up by his devastated family, they said that there is ‘no explanation as to why’ he had the heart attack.
“Jordan Tyler Brister suddenly and unexpectedly suffered cardiac arrest while at school with no explanation as to why,” the page read.
“Jordan was a senior in high school who planned to join the military after graduating.”
It continued: “Words cannot express what the Brister family is going through and there will never be enough answers as to why this has happened. He was an amazing kid who loved life to the fullest.”
The GoFundMe page has raised more than $41,000 of its $20,000 goal. The donations will be used for funeral expenses and for anything else the heartbroken family will need.
Amplus Academy also shared a heartbreaking statement on Facebook and sent their condolences to the teen’s family, writing: “It is with deep sadness and sympathy that we announce the passing of one of our Senior High School students, Jordan Brister. The Amplus community sends our love and condolences to the Brister family as well as to all of Jordan’s family, friends, and acquaintances.”
Brister’s death comes after another Vegas student – Ashari Hughes, 16, collapsed and died following a flag football game.
