Rick Harrison’s son, Adam Harrison, has passed away in Las Vegas at the age of 39.
His father, history’s Pawn Stars frontman Rick Harrison, has now confirmed the cause of death following his son’s sudden passing.
The Las Vegas Metro Police Department were reportedly investigating the case.
In a heartbreaking statement, the Harrison family said: “Our family is extremely saddened by the death of Adam. We ask for privacy as we grieve his loss.”
According to previous reports, Adam passed away following a suspected drug overdose. The family’s spokesperson, Laura Herlovich, said that she did not know what substance he overdosed on or where he died.
TMZ has now reported that Adam died from a fentanyl overdose, with the TV star’s representative adding: “Yes, I can confirm Adam died from a fentanyl overdose.”
Rick also said in a statement: “The fentanyl crisis in this country must be taken more seriously. It seems it is just flowing over the borders and nothing is being done about it. We must do better.”
According to the CDC, fentanyl, which is a synthetic opioid, is 100 times stronger than morphine and up to 50 times stronger than heroin. It is a major contributor to non-fatal and fatal overdoses in the US.
After the devastating news of his son’s passing, Rick took to Instagram and shared a photo of them at a restaurant. He wrote: “You will always be in my heart! I love you, Adam.”
The photo shows them enjoying some beer and a plate of oysters.
Actor Emilio Riveria commented: “Rest in Peace. My Condolences to You and the Familia.”
Donald Trump Jr also wrote: “I’m so sorry man.”
