The partner of missing Nicola Bulley has spoken out after the police found a body while searching for the mother-of-two.
According to reports, the body was discovered a mile from where the woman was last seen walking their family dog in St. Michael’s on Wyre.
Police said that a formal identification will be carried out but the family’s mortgage adviser has already been informed.
Sky News correspondent Inzamam Rashid reportedly said that he reached out to the 45-year-old mother’s partner, Paul Ansell.
“No words right now, just agony,” he wrote.
Mr. Rashid also said that the family are ‘incredibly heartbroken’ and will ‘really be struggling.’
A spokesperson for police said they were called to reports of a body in the river near Rawcliffe Road at around 11:35 am on Sunday.
“An underwater search team and specialist officers have subsequently attended the scene, entered the water and have sadly recovered a body,” the statement said.
“No formal identification has yet been carried out, so we are unable to say whether this is Nicola Bulley at this time.
“Procedures to identify the body are ongoing. We are currently treating the death as unexplained.
“Nicola’s family have been informed of developments and our thoughts are with them at this most difficult of times. We ask that their privacy is respected.”
It is understood that a woman and man walking their dog noticed the body and immediately called police.
A photographer at the scene said to the Mirror: “It all happened so fast. Police have sealed all the roads off. It’s fair to say a massive search is underway.”
Home Secretary Suella Braverman also took to Twitter and described the development as ‘heartbreaking and distressing.’
“My thoughts remain with Nicola’s family at this extremely difficult time.”
