A grieving mother has opened up about her pain after losing her eight-week-old baby out of a blue.
Alisha Batty, 21, is a young mom from Wolverhampton, England, whose newborn baby Lucy Louise went to sleep one night only to never wake up again.
According to the mom, she and her partner, Adam Dutton, found their child unresponsive and “blue” in the early morning of September 17.
The couple then performed CPR while waiting for the paramedics to arrive at their home. Unfortunately, the baby could not be saved. She was pronounced dead hours later.
As of this writing, the devastated parents are still awaiting the results of the autopsy while struggling to accept that their baby suddenly passed away.
“I gave Lucy her last bottle at 3.30 am in the morning and everything was fine, I changed her nappy and put her back into bed. I woke up at 8am; that is the usual time she gets up for a feed, 7.30am or 8am, and I ducked my head into her cot and she was blue and not breathing,” Alisha explained.
“My partner had to quickly do CPR while I was on the phone to the ambulance. They came, the police and everything came, obviously being a baby. We still don’t know her cause of death, it’s nearly been three weeks and the coroner still hasn’t taken her. We are just sort of in this loop.”
Speaking out about the tragedy was also the baby girl’s grandmother, 53-year-old Bev Batty, who launched a GoFundMe page to help the young family with funeral expenses.
“Yesterday my eight-week-old granddaughter Lucy Louise went to sleep and didn’t wake up. Our precious baby girl has been taken from us. And as a family, we are struggling with why this has happened. Her mummy and daddy, and big brother Ollie, are devastated,” she wrote.
“They are a low-income family and – while we will do our utmost best to give Lucie the best celebration of life that we possibly can, and a keepsake bear for Ollie.
“I am asking family and friends near and far if at all possible to donate as much, or as little, as possible to help this happen. Our lives will never be the same without our princess, our hearts are shattered.”
Our thoughts remain with Lucy’s loved ones during this challenging time.
