Megan Dauphin was found guilty of the manslaughter of her baby, McKinlee Grace Garner, who tragically passed away inside her Chevy Tahoe truck.

According to WMBB, the mother put her child into her vehicle and drove to a local store to buy some cigarettes.

When Dauphin drove back home, she forgot that her daughter was still inside the car.

Four hours later, Dauphin’s stepdaughter asked where the baby was. The mother said that McKinlee was in the living room but her stepdaughter said that she wasn’t there.

That’s when she realized her mistake and rushed outside but to her horror, her baby was no longer responsive.

It was later reported that the mother had been high on meth when she left the infant in the truck.

On Monday, Dauphin said in court that she is still distraught over the tragic death of her daughter.

“I do the best I can every day to just be there for the rest of my other kids. But even that is, or anytime I see any little girl I serve, I would break down in the bathroom and cry,” she said.

Her sister, Tiffany Dauphin, also said that the mother was a good person who made a mistake.

“I’ve known her as kind, respectable, trustworthy, honest, giving. And she’s always been there to help any time that anyone in the family has ever needed anything,” she said.

“She loves kids. She has always loved kids.”
