Raquel Wilkins calmly looked her boyfriend in the eye when she leaped off a high point of the Petco arena, a baseball stadium in San Diego, California.

She was holding Denzel Wilkins-Browning, 2, when she decided to end her life.

San Diego Police ruled Wilkins’ death a murder-suicide after the fall also killed the toddler.

The woman’s grieving family contested the ruling, with one witness saying that she was standing on a bench when she suddenly “lost her balance and fell over the edge.”

“From my vantage point, looking at her back, it was almost like she rolled over the railing,” the witness added.

Wilkins’ decision to jump seemed odd as she and her son were seen laughing and happy on that day. The family’s lawyer also claimed that the ruling was useful for the stadium’s owner, the San Diego Tribune reported.

“The city of San Diego owns that ballpark, it is legally responsible, assuming that what caused her to fall was anything but her intent,” the attorney claimed.

“The only way the city is not at fault is if she intended to kill herself and her baby.”

But Lt. Andra Brown said officers had come to the conclusion of murder-suicide after “detectives conducted a thorough and comprehensive investigation that included dozens of interviews, reviewing of available video footage, and collecting background information to determine what led to the deaths.”

But her boyfriend, Christopher Browning, contested the idea and insisted that her death was ‘very intentional, very planned.’

Another witness also argued that the fall was intentional. “Her demeanor walking up was so calm. She didn’t even look down. It looked just like she was trying to hop over a fence.”

According to reports, the mother had searched for tips for ending her life on her phone the day before the fall.

“To grieve in a healthy way, you have to honor the truth,” Browning expressed.
