A mother has spoken out and defended herself against fellow parents who condemned her for wearing revealing clothes on her school runs.
22-year-old Charlie Hayes is a proud mother with a unique taste for fashion who has raised plenty of eyebrows at her daughter’s school after wearing ‘revealing’ and ‘provocative’ clothes while dropping off and picking up her child at school.
As the young lady, who has over 100K followers on TikTok, revealed, people branded her as a “bad mother” and an “attention seeker” because of the things she chooses to wear in public.
Despite the backlash, however, Charlie insists she isn’t doing to tone down while claiming that she has the full support of the staff at her daughter’s school.
“People think I’m a bad mother because I don’t fit the mold of a typical mum. But the more people tell me to tone it down the more I go against it,” she said.
“It’s crazy to me that the clothes I wear can make people so angry that they go online and say the vilest thing they can think of.”
She continued: “All of the staff at school and nursery have no prejudice towards me, for the way I look, or for being young or anything.
“The other mothers are nice too. Most of the negative reaction I get is on the Internet – I think that’s where people feel safe to be nasty.”
Charlie also revealed that the hateful comments she receives are typically from other women – mothers like her to be precise.
“The majority of men online are just annoyed that I’m not a standard baby-making machine. It’s so upsetting when it’s from other mothers, especially tattooed or alternative mums. I expect it from men, but not women,” she added.
While the mother can brush off criticism aimed at her, she finds it hard to forgive trolls who also attacked her 4-year-old son over his waist-length blonde hair.
According to Charlie, the boy chose to have long hair only to be accused of seeking attention or being gay.
“The most horrific comments I get online are directed towards Jasper and his hair. I’ve been accused of abuse, neglect, attention seeking and pushing him to be gay and trans,” the mother shared.
“People seriously are insane. He’s just a boy with long hair.”
Concluding her message to her haters, Charlie insisted she’s a good mother despite not fitting the mold that other people find comfort in.
She also defied the expectations “to prove yourself modest and quiet” as she said she’s not going to prove herself to anybody.
