A couple from Utah who have been married for more than three years have expressed their shock after they found out that they are cousins.
Tylee and Nick Waters took to TikTok and revealed that they are related but that does not mean that they would separate ways.
In their viral clip that has been viewed more than 5 million times, they said: “Over three years into marriage and we just found out we are cousins.”
The couple also captioned their post: “I wish we’re joking.”
Their discovery also left viewers shocked and the post received thousands of comments.
One TikToker said: “The way my jaw dropped. Don’t you guys have family reunions?”
Another commented: “That’s why my mom wants to know who it is I am dating so that she can tell me whether or not we are related bc I have a big family living in one city.”
A third shared: “Same thing happened to us. Married for three years with a kid and then found out we’re fifth cousins once removed.”
In another video, the couple said that they have no plans to separate even though they are related.
But when they refused to answer some questions about how closely related they are, many started to question their story.
One person said: “I’m sure an explanation will come, after this is milked for all the views it’s worth lol.”
Another wrote: “So you guys aren’t even cousins, you’re just farming for likes & engagement.”
Earlier this year, a couple from Colorado also found out that they were related after taking DNA tests.
Celine and Joseph Quinones have been married for ten years when they took the tests through MyHeritage.
They initially considered getting a divorce but decided to stay together as they have three healthy children.
