A man who tied the knot with a pensioner when he was only 18 years old has shared a heartwarming tribute to his wife.
It was in 2015 when Gary Hardwick, now 26, tied the knot with his wife Almeda only two weeks after they first met at the funeral of her son.
Their relationship made headlines around the world as they both revealed that they consummated their marriage during their honeymoon.
The Tennessee couple are celebrating another milestone as Almeda celebrates her 80th birthday.
Posting on Instagram to pay tribute to his beloved wife, Gary wrote: “Happy birthday to the most amazing wife in the world. Today is not only your day, but most importantly, today is about celebrating the birth of such a wonderful & true woman with such a heart of gold.
“I’m the luckiest husband for everyday that I get to wake up beside you.
“You make me the happiest man each and everyday and I want to always make you the happiest woman.”
Gary also said that Almeda deserves the world and he would work hard to give her that. He wished her the best birthday ever, adding that he hoped she would like his surprises.
“You’re truly the love of my lifetime and I love you with every beat of my heart. Here’s to celebrating my queen. Happy Birthday Babydoll,” he added.
Gary revealed that he prepared dinner for his wife’s birthday. He also got her a karaoke machine, chocolates, and wine.
Gary was only 17 when he and Almeda first met but they waited until he celebrated his 18th birthday before they tied the knot with the blessing of his family.
After getting married, the couple moved into Almeda’s house along with one of her grandchildren, who is older than Gary.
