A 32-year-old man has revealed that he removed the tip of his nose and tattooed not only his eyes but also his gums to transform his body into a ‘living piece of art’.
Odin started his transformation at the age of 21. He has had implants, tattoos, and even performed some of the procedures himself before turning to a fellow tattooist to ink his chest, arms, back, head and face.
“I think my body is a vessel for art and I think changing how I’m seen is part of that practice,” he said.
Odin explained that he began his transformation because of his appreciation for tribal history, art and culture.
“My mother was a museum curator when I was a child and I found what I have learned to be very influential in my philosophies, and in everything I do and see in this world,” he said.
The 32-year-old said that he likes to see changes that might not be visible. “It’s kind of a constant reminder that we never step in the same river twice,” he expressed.
Odin had his nose tip removed as part of a septril piercing. The procedure started as a normal piercing, stretching to 4mm before undergoing a biopsy punch to widen the hole.
The piercing was then increased to 19mm in diameter, allowing Odin to show off the inside of his nose with the cartilage visible.
“My family is not terribly fond of what I’ve done to my appearance,” he admitted. “I still am invited to holiday dinners though and speak with my relatives regularly.
“We are on good terms despite disagreements.”
Odin also said that many people feel proud to be acquainted with him.
“Many of my friends usually seem a little proud to be friends with me, like I’m a one-of-a-kind person to know,” he added.
One fan commented on his photo: “Your nose is beautiful.”
Another wrote: “I didn’t know you could stretch that part of your nose!”
