A grieving man’s love story went viral after he married his late girlfriend at her funeral.

35-year-old Xu Shinan and 34-year-old Yang Liu from eastern China were head over heels for each other when they found out that Liu was suffering from breast cancer.

For nearly six long years, the young lady was bravely fighting the disease with her loyal boyfriend by her side the entire time.

During their challenges, the couple would often talk about their future and dream of having a grand wedding to celebrate their love after beating the disease.

Sadly, however, Liu passed away at the age of 34 before she could realize her dreams.

In a tribute to his beloved girlfriend, Shinan decided to symbolically tie the knot with the love of his life on the day of her funeral.

And so, the grieving man organized a joint wedding and funeral service at a funeral parlor in Dalian. The services were attended by the couple’s family members and friends.

True to his word, Shinan also decided to buy Liu’s dream wedding dress that she wore for her wedding and funeral.

“All that I can do is to fulfil your wish and letting you wear a wedding dress fulfils my wish,” the 35-year-old told his late girlfriend as she lay in the coffin.

He later said: “My wife used to say that nobody was allowed to cry should she die. I was holding back my tears on the day, but when [her body] was sent for cremation, I couldn’t fight it anymore.”

As Shinan also revealed, his family and friends helped him realize his late girlfriend’s dreams, whereas a shop owner decided to give a wedding dress to the couple for free after hearing his tragic story.
