A 31-year-old employee tragically died after falling from the 14th floor of Google’s headquarters building in New York City.
The senior software engineer was found lying face down on the ground outside the Manhattan building at around 11:30 pm on West 15th Street.
Law enforcement sources told The Post that the worker ‘jumped to his death.’
Police confirmed they responded to 911 calls of an unconscious man lying on the ground near the 15-story building.
He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries.
Speaking to Insider, Google Communications Manager Alex Joseph said, “We are very saddened by this tragic incident involving one of our employees.
“Our thoughts are with their family, and out of respect for them and their privacy, we aren’t commenting further.”
Joseph also shared that the company is currently working with grief counselors and employees to provide more support for workers.
In February, a fundraiser was organized for former Google employee Jacob Pratt after he took his own life in his apartment.
An NYPD spokesperson said to The Post at that time: “Upon arrival, officers observed a 33-year-old male unconscious and unresponsive.”
The spokesperson added that there were no signs of foul play.
The GoFundMe page read: “Sadly, our son and brother Jacob Pratt passed away unexpectedly this month. He was a loving, kind, caring, and funny person.
“He touched the lives of everyone he interacted with whether through his school, work, or personal journey.”
It added: “In honor of his life, and in lieu of flowers, please consider giving money to this fundraiser. All funds will be split equally and donated to Make-A-Wish Michigan and National Alliance on Mental Illness.
“These two charities represent our son and brother and the heart he had for the people around him.”
