After years of bullying from his peers, a man who suffers from a condition that makes his breasts grow bigger has revealed that he now loves his body.
34-year-old Timothy Beck Werth from Brooklyn, New York, admitted that he used to hate his body after he grew breasts at the age of 12.
He was then diagnosed with gynecomastia or enlarged breasts, which occurs due to hormone imbalance.
Timothy said that ‘no amount of exercise or lifting weights’ could make his chest appear smaller, and bulking up only made them even more visible.
He admitted that he felt like his ‘body was mocking him’ that he refused to remove his shirt in public.
In an essay for Insider, he wrote: “As my female classmates were getting their boobs, I was getting mind. Puberty is hard on everyone in different ways, but my budding breasts felt like a curse.
“When I say that I have man boobs, I don’t mean that I’m a little top-heavy. I mean that I’ve been sized as a 40C bra size.”
Timothy said that he wanted to undergo breast reduction surgery but he eventually ‘learned how to love his body, man boobs and all.’
“Barbers always told me that I had a great head of hair, so I started putting effort into grooming and combing my hair,” he went on.
He also said that he felt his best when wearing certain outfits so he decided to organize his closet that makes him feel and look his best.
“If you want to be the best version of yourself, then why waste one second putting yourself down? Self-deprecation was just another expression of self-loathing, and I had to leave it behind,” he wrote.
“Confidence really is sexy, and it has to be earned. If you take the right actions, you might be surprised to find it within your reach after all,” Timothy added.
