Lauren London and Jonah Hill’s ‘You People’ kissing scene was faked with CGI, their comedian co-star Andrew Shulz has revealed.
The Netflix film, which featured David Duchovny, Nia Long, Julia Louis-Deyfus and Eddie Murphy, centers on a new couple who have to adapt to each other’s cultures and families.
But the movie has not fared well, with The Guardian calling the flick a ‘frequently excruciating culture clash’ with jokes that are ‘run out of steam’ and ‘painfully labored.’
On Rotten Tomatoes, You People was given only 38 percent. The film “carries the unresolved, disjointed tension of a sitcom that’s been stretched to the two-hour mark,” The Independent said of the film.
In addition to such remarks, the movie allegedly featured a CGI kiss between London and Hill.
Speaking on his podcast Brilliant Idiots, Schulz revealed the secret about the kissing scene in the movie and said: “I don’t even know if I should share this sh*t, but in the final scene, they don’t even kiss.”
He went on: “It’s CGI. Swear to God, son. I’m there, I’m watching the wedding, and I see them go in for the kiss and their faces stop like this far.
“And I’m like, ‘I wonder how they’re going to play that in the movie. Oh, they’re probably just going to cut right there.’
“But in the movie, you could see their faces come close, and then you can see their faces morph a little bit into a fake kiss.”
Fans took to Twitter and shared their thoughts about the revelation, with one writing: “Half of her got lost in his beard,” with a laughing emoji.
Another said: “Ayo is it true,” with two laughing emojis.
A third added: “I couldn’t even watch the full movie, they had no chemistry whatsoever. Even dating I was like why haven’t they kissed yet weird so this does NOT surprise me.”
