A grieving husband has shared the moment his wife plunged 100ft to her death in a ‘free-flying’ extreme sports event.
33-year-old Yevgenia Leontyeva appeared ‘afraid’ as she hesitated to jump from a hotel rooftop even though she had already done it before.
She then let a friend go first and it was successful, a Kazakhstan court was told.
Witnesses said that the mother-of-three was urged by instructor Alexander Muznikas to jump. “It’s not the first time you’ve jump,” he told her.
“You know how to do it. Did I put a safety harness on you for nothing?” he went on.
Yevgenia can be seen jumping from the rooftop only moments after her husband Alexander Tkachenko told her “I love you.”
Reports revealed that a supporting rope was not secured on a tree. Onlookers on the roof screamed as people below were seen rushing to help the mother after the tragic fall.
A cross-line that was supposed to break her fall and leave her suspended above the ground was not properly secured, according to reports.
A man can also be seen falling to the ground as Yevgenia crashed down. He is believed to have been holding the cross-line that should’ve been secured and attached to the tree.
“I came to support my wife,” Alexander expressed. “Well, how not to support your beloved….
“My wife was crushed before my eyes. I was in shock and panic. It was clearly the employee’s fault.”
The bereaved husband continued: “They did not coordinate their actions. The instructor didn’t look down to make sure the rope was tied. He just told her: “Jump!”
“I don’t wish this on anyone. He is guilty. He must serve time in jail. This, of course, will not return my spouse and mother of my children….”
Alexander said that he knelt beside his wife after the fall.
Yevgenia suffered brain injuries, a serious skull fracture, and multiple right-sided fractures. She was taken to hospital but died while doctors were trying to save her.
