A 54-year-old grandmother tragically died after flying to Turkey where she underwent a Brazilian bum lift and a tummy tuck procedure.
Carol Keenan passed away after going to a clinic in Istanbul where she was also offered a muscle repair operation.
Her grieving partner Stevie Anderson and daughter Leonie said the grandmother was not aware of the dangers of the operations when she decided to book the trip.
The heartbroken family have now decided to speak out about the dangers of having cosmetic surgery abroad after 28-year-old Shannon Bowe died while undergoing gastric band surgery in Turkey.
“The way we would explain her to people is she had fire in her belly but passion her heart for everyone. She fought for what she thought was right.”
Stevie also said: “She just cared for everyone, everyone loved her. When she walked in the room she just lit up the room.”
Speaking to STV, Stevie said: “I didn’t want her to go but she was adamant she wanted to go and it was going to make her happy.
“To be honest I wasn’t too compos mentis with what was going on as well. I didn’t really know all the facts and the figures. I was quite naïve as well.”
Stevie also revealed that after Carol underwent health checks, she was offered a muscle repair for free as doctors there said it would help improve the success on her tummy tuck.
He said that she did not pay for the third operation but was not “in the right frame of mind” to process the information and consider risks involved.
Stevie said his partner was fine in the days after the operation but she suddenly collapsed while going inside a taxi.
“She got dressed up, make-up on, went down the lift, taxi was waiting. Just as she stepped in the taxi, she just said, ‘Oh, Stevie’, and just collapsed in my arms,” he recalled.
Carol was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after.
The grieving family are now hoping that after Carol’s and Shannon’s tragic deaths, others will now consider the dangers and risks of getting cosmetic surgery abroad.
