A 54-year-old grandmother has been eaten alive by a giant snake after going to the garden to collect rubber from trees.
According to reports, Jahrah disappeared on Friday night in a nearby forest in Jambi, Indonesia, after saying goodbye to her family.
Search parties were sent out to comb the area but it wasn’t until two days later that they found a 22ft python with a swollen stomach.
When locals cut the python open, they found the body of the grandmother inside.
Anto, the head of the village, said the giant snake likely killed Jahrah by using its long body to suffocate her.
The 54-year-old likely died in pain that may have taken two hours.
The reptile likely used its fangs to pin the grandmother in place before wrapping around her using its body. It slowly suffocated her then swallowed her whole.
“The victim did not come home after saying goodbye to her family to go to the garden collecting rubber from trees on Friday,” an official said.
“Her family then reported her missing to the local authorities, and a search has been carried out since then.
“Residents killed the snake and dissected its stomach. Everyone was astonished.
“It turned out that the woman we were looking for was in the snake’s stomach.”
Anto also said that no locals saw the moment Jahrah was attacked by the phyton as she went to the jungle alone.
People in the village were left horrified as many giant pythons have been spotted nearby.
“Villagers are now worried that bigger snakes are still in the forest. The presence of this giant snake has also swallowed two resident goats,” Anto added.
