‘Am I In The Wrong For Kicking My Daughter’s Friend Out Of Her Birthday Party Because She Wants To Steal The Spotlight?’

A mother has shared how she kicked her daughter’s friend out of her 10th birthday party as she kept on wanting to steal the spotlight.

The woman took to Reddit and said that she felt guilty for what she did after her husband told her that she should’ve let her daughter’s friend stay.

“I have a 10-year-old daughter named Alicia,” she wrote. “She just turned 10 this past Thursday and the party was Saturday.”

The mother said that Alicia has a friend at school named Quinn. The birthday celebrant invited her friend as well as her mother, Liz, to the party.

“I do not like Liz because she spoils Quinn to the point that she’s impossible to discipline, she doesn’t listen, and is very self-centered,” the mother said, adding that Quinn is very spoiled “she throws tantrums whenever the attention is not on her.”

When Alicia received her cake, Liz asked the mother if Quinn could also blow out the candles with the birthday celebrant.

“Alicia and I both said no and Quinn started to cry,” the mother went on. “Everyone ignored her while we ate cake and when we moved on to gifts.”

But Quinn started having tantrums again when Alicia opened all of her presents from her friends and family as she wanted one of her gifts.

“The kids went to play again (one of the parents suggested it to get away from Quinn’s screaming) and she sat there and pouted instead of playing.”

The mother said that she told Liz to take her daughter home as she was making Alicia’s party all about her.

“Liz tried to say she would calm Quinn down but I wouldn’t even let her speak. I demanded that she leave and went out to watch my daughter play,” the mother said.

But now, she feels guilty for sending the child home and took to the internet to ask if she was in the wrong.

People on Reddit said that the mother was justified for wanting Alicia’s birthday party to go smoothly, with one person writing: “Quinn will never be invited to a party again.”

Another wrote: “It’s not even about control, it’s about teaching our kids from early on and help them to deal with their emotions when they are leaning. Clearly that is something Liz and the other parent have don’t been doing for Quinn.”
