A 43-year-old father from Maryland was killed outside his home while trying to protect his 14-year-old son from high school bullies.
Before the tragic incident, Christopher Wright shared a heartbreaking post on Facebook: “No matter how good or bad your life is, wake up each day and be thankful you still have one.”
He posted the message on Facebook only two weeks before he was attacked by bullies who were after his son.
The horrific attack was captured on camera but according to Anne Arundel County police, they do not have any of the suspects in custody.
Wright’s grieving fiancé, Tracy Karopchinsky, said the fight occurred on May 19 when the school bullies arrived outside their home to confront and fight him over $30.
She said that two adults and three teens suddenly appeared at their home, with one adult saying that Christopher would have to fight if his son wouldn’t.
Shocking videos showed the father’s body being slammed to the ground as he was repeatedly punched in the head.
Sadly, he suffered a traumatic brain injury and passed away.
The homicide squad is currently reviewing footage from at least two Ring doorbell cameras. Reports say that police are trying to establish who was the aggressor but Karopchinsky has said that officers knew it was Wright who threw the first punch.
In an interview with The New York Post, Karopchinsky said: “It was never a secret Chris threw the first punch. Homicide detectives knew Chris threw the first punch. If (the attackers) didn’t come to our house looking for a fight, this never would have happened.”
She also explained that Wright told the bullies that their son wouldn’t fight and they responded: “If he’s not going to fight, then you’re going to fight us.”
