Christian Wilkins has once again managed to stir up social media after donning a sheer corset and leather pants.
The 29-year-old socialite, who is the son of Australian TV presenter Richard Wilkins, previously made headlines around the globe after wearing revealing outfits including dresses to a variety of events.
Now, the young man pushed his sense of fashion a step further as he wore an edgy sheer corset coupled with leather pants to Sydney’s Ace Hotel where he attended the exclusive launch of Mecca makeup.
Sharing photos from his photoshoot on Instagram, Wilkins jokingly wrote: “Does this corset make my boobs look small?”
Soon after his post went viral, the 29-year-old received lots of mixed responses including praise from his friends and complaints from his critics.
The photo comes just weeks after Christian spoke to ABC’s Insight to open up about the online abuse he faced after wearing a sheer white dress to the TV Week Logie Awards.
In his interview, the young man lashed out at frail patriarchy saying people had been telling him to die simply because he wore a dress.
“People telling me to OD [overdose], people telling me that I’m a disgrace. I mean, I was very surprised to find out that the patriarchy was so flimsy that it could be taken down by a piece of white silk,” Wilkins said.
Despite all the hate he had faced, however, he insisted to express himself through his outfit choices to inspire others to be true to their gender identities.
Wilkins also praised his father, Richard, and mother, Michelle Burke, for always staying supportive of him.
“As a kid, I always, kind of, loved anything that was pink and sparkly… I was never necessarily encouraged to wear dresses. But my parents said if I wanted to, they would absolutely allow me to,” Wilkins added.
The interview came shortly after Richard Wilkins spoke out and voiced his support for his son after reports that the picture of his son in a dress made him cringe.
“To anyone who dares to suggest that I am in any way ‘ashamed’ of my son Christian… for whatever reason… You are wrong!” Richard said.
“I could not be more proud! He is an exceptional human being who will leave his stamp on the world long after his detractors have disappeared. I love you unconditionally.”
