Moving in with your partner means discovering a lot of things about each other, but there are times when you have to brace yourself for the unexpected.
One man just discovered that he is dating a ‘human version of a golden retriever’ as his boyfriend wants to be treated like a dog when they’re together.
While he does not mind his boyfriend’s ‘unique behavior,’ he has taken to Reddit and asked if he should continue to play along even though he thinks it’s weird.
“All in all, he is a really affectionate guy, but his overall personality just reminds me of a giant dog,” he wrote.
“He’s super affectionate, super smiley, and always looking for my affection.
“He will cheer up massively if I praise him and if he’s ever sulking, all I need to do to cheer him up is cuddle him.”
The man explained that he rewards his partner with praises for eating vegetables or doing the laundry. His boyfriend wants praises in the form of tummy rubs and treats.
“He will sulk if I don’t pay him enough attention, not in a manipulative way, but just in an ‘I was waiting for you all day, your work takes so long, I miss you come hug me’ way,” he continued.
He said that when he leaves to do something, his boyfriend sits and waits for him to return.
“If I ask him to get me water, the paper. whatever at any hour he’ll do it, even if he grumbles a bit,” the unnamed man shared. “But he’s the opposite outside our relationship which is the funny thing.”
The man said that he doesn’t have a problem with his boyfriend acting like a puppy but he’s curious if it’s normal and if anyone else has had this kind of relationship.
One Reddit user commented: “If you don’t mind it and he likes it when you feed in to it and treat him like a puppy, then there’s no harm in continuing what you’re doing.”
Another wrote: “I don’t see what the problem is unless it annoys you.”
