The teenage girl whose ex-cop dad shot and killed her stalker has defended selling selfies online, saying she will continue using TikTok where she makes $1,700 a video.
Ava Majury and her parents Rob and Kimberly appeared on Good Morning America and shared details about the shooting at their Florida home.
It was in July 2021 when Eric Rohan Justin, 18, traveled from Maryland to Naples to kill Ava as he did not get the explicit content he wanted.
According to reports, he had been competing with others for Ava’s attention for months. He also bought her contact number from her friends and paid them for photos of her.
The TikTok star had direct contact with Justin and sold him two photos for $300.
“After talking to both my parents, I thought it would be mutual if I got in contact with him directly. I said, ‘hey, can you stop going through my friends and stop contacting people for information about me just come straight to me and you can purchase it all from me.’”
But when Justin started asking for explicit content, that’s when Ava’s father, Rob, became involved.
He continued sending her money even though she already blocked him. When he did not receive the content he wanted, he showed up at their family home and shot open the door.
Ava, her mother, and her siblings rushed to the bedroom to hide but her dad, a retired police officer, grabbed his gun and shot Justin, who died in a hospital.
“I had to do what I had to do to protect my family and I made sure of it,” the father said in the interview.
His wife said he reacted ‘perfectly.’
Despite their fears, the family is letting Ava stay on TikTok where she earns over $1,700 per video.
“I have three TikTok accounts, so I could have one brand come to me and be like, ‘Oh, I’ll do $1,000 for one video on your main account,’ and I’ll be like, ‘Oh great, I have two other accounts that are different types of people on there,’” Ava told the Times.
“So altogether, I’m making $1,700 off just my name, because I opened up three accounts rather than just building off one.”
Rob said it would be difficult to remove their daughter from the platform and that she also shouldn’t have to let it go.
“It’s like Christmas every day, because then you see it build. I think we just had to allow her to make a decision and sort of support her. I think it’s going to help her heal. It sounds corny, but I don’t know what else you would do it for.’”
Her mother added: “Why should we allow them to stop her? Maybe she’s meant to bring awareness to all this.”
