A furious daughter is going viral after a nursing home in Australia served her mum a ‘disgraceful’ meal for Christmas.
To be more specific, the daughter slammed Byron Bay, a famous nursing home that takes care of elderly members of society. Despite the great fame and reputation, the daughter explains how unbelievably appalled she was. It just didn’t make sense as to why anyone would serve a meal that appeared nothing less than table scraps.
To put off the horror, the wilted lettuce added more misery to her and her mother’s nightmarish experience. But if you think the enraged daughter would stay quiet on the matter, you’re clearly mistaken.

The nursing home doesn’t spare the elderly on Christmas
Christmas time is supposed to be one of the year’s most auspicious occasions. However, it seems Byron Bay missed out on that memo, keeping in mind what they served.
As far as the actual meal is concerned, even the pictures don’t do justice to their poor extent. Comprising of wilted lettuce leaves, a bit of tomato, some specks of cheese, and little ham slices here and there- disgraceful is the term to use.
Meanwhile, the woman took to her Facebook account to slam the nursing home for serving her mother a meal of table scraps. She captioned her image with, “Sadly, this is the meal that the nursing home gives to aged care residents as Christmas lunch.”
In addition, she added how her mum couldn’t even bear looking at it, let alone, eating it.
Social media reacts to a dreadful meal
Clearly, the furious daughter wasn’t alone on this matter. Her post not only went viral, it received plenty of attention from viewers around the globe. And the majority seemed to agree with where she was coming from.
One internet user described the image as plain and disgusting. In the same way, she commented on how the nursing home’s staff wouldn’t even eat that sort of garbage. Hence, she questioned why they would serve such a meal in the first place.
Another social media user expressed her thoughts on the picture too. She added how it appeared so dull and unappetizing. Truly such a shame, she added. And just like that, the comments kept coming in. “How awful, that’s not a Christmas meal. It looks like table scraps,” wrote another.
On the contrary, one social media user shared some insightful thoughts. He mentioned how the home served such a meal, keeping in mind the elderly population’s dietary restrictions. For that reason, he chose to remain silent and not say too much.
The real reason why it’s such a major issue
In case you happen to be a part of the bunch who don’t think that this is such a major issue, well, it is. And that’s especially true, keeping in mind the growing number of cases of sub-standard food.
As days go by, we see and hear of more cases where centers just don’t give meals the care and attention they deserve. From hygiene to poor dietary choices, reports suggest that they’re putting other’s lives at stake.
On average, around 40% of old care residents suffer from neglect or some form of physical or mental abuse. These results are based upon a survey conducted from January to March in 2020. And the results are alarming, to say the least.
Most old age citizens selected neglect, which just goes to show how they feel at a center that’s supposed to be as close to home. Hence, we hope officials take another closer look at the matter before it’s too late.
