A student who has reportedly been believed to have smuggled a copy of the Netflix breakthrough show ‘Squid Game’ into North Korea is all set to be executed by a firing squad.
According to local media reports, the young man brought the digital copy for the show back from China.
He then went about selling the hit Netflix drama on countless USB flash drives, with a number of students being his customers. Unfortunately, the young man was caught and has now been given an immediate death sentence, reports added.
The individual has been identified as a student who confessed to the crime and mentioned how he recently returned from China with a digital copy of the show that first became a hit in South Korea, followed by a worldwide global phenomenon.
But how exactly did the student get caught?. Well, it was all thanks to the country’s high-tech surveillance cameras that reportedly caught him selling the show on USB flash drives.
Hence, now it has been revealed how an entire firing squad has been arranged, similar to that shown in the series, who will carry out his killing.
Termed to be one of the grimmest methods used to kill an individual, many termed Squid Games to be extremely violent in nature, for this act only. But to see it take place in real life is beyond belief for many as the shocking news went viral this morning.
Reports spoke about how the arrests of the student took place after a hunt in North Korea’s province of Hamgyong which also shares a border with China.
Radio Free Asia was one of the first media outlets to report the incident, claiming how one of the students who also bought the show will also get a death sentence, while those who watched it have already been sentenced to five years of hardcore labor.
